Toronto Interior Design Project – Hambly Before & After

beautiful bathroom interior with soaker tub under a window, gold fixtures, and blue custom vanity

It’s hard to believe that I’ve never written a full blog post for this Toronto interior design project that we completed out in The Beaches because it’s one of my favourite projects to date!  So, today I’m finally committing to sifting through my iPhone photos to find all the old before photos from this project and pulling together an official post to share this amazing transformation with you… I hope you love it as much as I do!

About This Toronto Interior Design Project

These clients wanted to change their second floor’s four-bedroom, one-bathroom space into a three-bedroom, two-bathroom space. And for good reason! With two children, they really only needed three bedrooms. Plus, sharing the same bathroom with two pre-teen sons and a husband was not ideal for the busy mom of this house who was looking for a place all her own to recharge and unwind at the end of a busy day.

The New Ensuite Bathroom

As you’ll see in the photos, one bedroom was converted into an ensuite bathroom designed with her in mind.  Happy wife, happy life, right? She wanted to feel like she was at the spa, and we delivered that with a calming colour palette, luxury finishes, and a large tub for long soaks and relaxing with a good book.

We mixed a high and low tile combination to balance the clients’ investment and give a more custom look.  The blue vanity was a must on their wishlist because they had fallen in love with the blue cabinets in another kitchen we had designed previously.  The gold hardware, lighting and plumbing fixtures really added the luxurious feeling that our client was after.  Oh, and we often get asked where the toilet is located because we did not photograph it – It’s hiding behind the shower with a piece of frosted glass next to it, so that you don’t really have to look at it much.  It’s just another special touch to make this bathroom truly feel like you’ve escaped to the spa.

The Boys’ Bathroom

Next, we transformed the main bathroom into a neutral, masculine, and youthful space just for the two boys of the house to use.  As you can see in the photos below, this new design allows for much better use of the space, and ample storage in the new double vanity, and two sinks mean no more fighting for the sink – Hooray!

We used a few different tile colours to design a custom checkered floor, which the boys thought was so cool.  The space in this bathroom was actually a little too narrow to do a full depth vanity, so we went custom and designed one that is only eighteen inches deep and fit well in the space.  We mixed stainless steel and matte black hardware, lighting, and plumbing fixtures in this bathroom for some added interest and added some beautiful boat artwork above the toilet.  Oh, and the toilet in here is also hidden behind the tub wall so that you don’t see it as you walk into the space.
