How I Manage My Life As A Business Owner And A Mom

Business

As a small business owner and mom, balancing professional success and personal fulfillment can feel like a never-ending juggling act. The constant demands of running a business and nurturing a family can leave you feeling overwhelmed and stretched thin. However, through years of trial and error, I’ve discovered strategies that have helped me navigate this challenging journey more easily and gracefully (well, most of the time. Lol!). In this blog post, I’ll share some insights into how I manage my life as a business owner and mom, along with practical tips that you can implement to reclaim control and find balance in your own life.  And even if you’re not a mom or a business owner you may find these tips helpful, because life is just generally hectic these days, don’t you think?  Anyway, let’s dive in….

Get Clear on What You Actually Want

One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is the importance of defining success on my own terms. In today’s hyper-connected world, it’s easy to fall into the trap of comparing ourselves to others, especially on social media, where everyone’s highlight reel is on display. However, I’ve realized that bigger and more is not always better. Instead of chasing someone else’s version of success, take the time to get clear on what truly matters to you. Reflect on your values, priorities, and aspirations, and use them as a compass to guide your decisions and actions. It’s not always easy, but it’s worth it.

Get Super Organized

While managing both a business and a family, chaos can quickly ensue if you’re not careful. That’s why getting organized is essential for maintaining productivity and finding balance. Invest time in creating systems and routines that help streamline your workflow and household responsibilities. Whether it’s setting up a structured work schedule, decluttering your physical space, or creating meal plans and prepping your food for the week, find what works best for you and stick to it. Remember, a clutter-free environment leads to a clutter-free mind.

Don’t Remember All the Details

As a busy entrepreneur and mom, keeping track of all the moving parts in your life can feel like a daunting task. That’s where helpful software comes in handy, so you don’t have to remember all the details. Tools like Asana, iCal, and the Notes and Reminders Apps can be invaluable for organizing your tasks, appointments, and family commitments. Whether scheduling client meetings, coordinating school pickups, or collaborating with your partner on household chores and the grocery list, leverage technology to stay on top of it all.

Say No thanks to Things

Learning to say no is a skill that every business owner and mom must master. While it’s tempting to say yes to every opportunity that comes your way, spreading yourself too thin can lead to burnout and resentment. Be selective about where you invest your time and energy, and don’t be afraid to decline invitations or delegate tasks when necessary. Remember, saying no to the things that don’t align with your most essential priorities allows you to say yes to the things that do. And yes, rest should be a crucial priority, in my opinion. I’m known for saying no to something, so I can do nothing – Give it a try; it’s actually pretty fun!

Get oodles of Help

Last but certainly not least, don’t be afraid to ask for help when you need it. Running a business and raising a family is a team effort, and there’s no shame in seeking support from others. Whether hiring assistants at work, enlisting the help of a cleaning service, getting your groceries delivered, or leaning on your partner and family for support, you don’t have to do it all alone. Recognize your limitations and be willing to delegate tasks or outsource responsibilities when feasible.

I’d love to Help You

In conclusion, managing life as a business owner and mom is no easy feat, but it’s certainly possible with the right mindset and strategies. By getting clear on your priorities, getting organized, leveraging helpful software, saying no when necessary, and seeking help, you can find the balance you crave and thrive in your professional and personal life.
