Last weekend I treated myself to a couple of beautiful flower arrangements from my favourite florist, and I got to thinking about how much flowers can elevate any interior. So, today I’m sharing my favourite ways to incorporate flowers into a home to make the space more beautiful.
Needless to say, in the above photo, I went to a florist to create this stunning arrangement. You can either let the florist create what they want or start by sending them a photo of something you like the look of, so they have a bit of direction. Having a florist create an arrangement is such a treat, and one of my favourite ways to bring flowers into my home.
If you don’t have it within your budget to go to the florist often, don’t worry, the grocery store is another great option. I don’t often find pre-made arrangements that I like, because I typically find the colour combinations to be a bit too much for my tastes. I do often buy fresh stems to create my own simple arrangement. A few hydrangeas in a short square vase or a dozen roses in a small round vase are my go-to’s. Peonies are another favourite of mine when they are in season.
If you’re setting the table or dressing up a larger area, like a coffee table and are finding a single arrangement is not enough, consider using more than one. Having three of the same small arrangments across the center of a dining table is a nice way to create impact, and if you’re hosting two other couples, consider giving each of them an arrangement to take home at the end of the evening as a nice gesture. If you’re looking to create an impact on a coffee table, I like to have one medium arrangement and then one smaller one with the same flowers right next to it. Having two vases side-by-side creates a beautiful layered look and fills the space quite nicely.
If you’re like me and struggle to keep plants alive (which is something I’m slowly getting better at), but love the look of greenery in your home, then you can purchase just greenery from a florist (or the flower section at the grocery store) and place them into a pot, so they look like a plant. They don’t drink much and last a really long time, so they’re a pretty great option if you need something low maintenance. I use greenery in pots in the built-ins around my fireplace because I like to change them out seasonally.
