When hiring an interior designer, there is a lot to consider, it’s your home, after all, so you really want to make sure that you get it right. Today I’m sharing a few tips on how to hire an interior designer that you’ll be happy with.

Research Interior Designers Online

The best place to start is online. Do some googling and check out some websites to narrow down your search to a few designers that you like. Does the website look professional? Does the copy on the site align with what you want for your home? And how about the photography and portfolio page? After you’ve found some favourites, hop over to social media to see what their personalities are like. When working with an interior designer, it’s usually a fairly long relationship, so you’ll want to make sure that your personalities work well together.

Get Your Questions Ready

Take some time to brainstorm some key questions that you would like to have answered right away. You’ll want to make sure that you and the interior designer are on the same page from the start. Key areas to discuss would be timeline, budget, how they work, and if they have experience with your type of project. There will always be questions that pop up along the way, but ensuring you’re getting your essential high-level questions in at the beginning will set you up for success moving forward.

Book A Call Or Meeting

Once you have your questions ready, begin by booking a call. A quick conversation can be very helpful without you having to invest too much time. If your call goes well and you feel that you’ve found a good fit, then set a time to meet your interior designer in person. I would suggest that you go to meet the interior designer at their office; this will give you a chance to see how they work, meet their staff, and get a good feel for how their business is run.
