When the kids move out, the purpose of your main bathroom suddenly shifts. Instead of a place for your children to get ready for school (where messy towels and toothbrushes are always the main focal point!), you now need a clean, comfortable oasis for your guests.
Tired of inviting friends or family over for the weekend and then asking them to trek downstairs to use the dreaded outdated basement bathroom? Our clients can relate!
Our clients for this project were a lovely couple from Toronto who wanted major updates to their main bathroom and a basement bathroom that would help their guests feel at home. With their two boys off to University, now was the perfect time to give these essential rooms a makeover.

For the main bathroom renovation, we aimed to preserve the elements the clients liked, such as the warmth of a wood vanity, while lightening up and modernizing the overall look.
The new custom vanity, plumbing fixtures, decorative lighting and nickel gap wall treatment behind the vanity instantly rejuvenated one side of the room. At the same time, on the other, we made a significant change…
Here, we dramatically updated the shower area, removing the tub to create a large, sophisticated walk-in shower with a make-up vanity area. We provided a functional space and opened up this side of the bathroom to establish a more open and spacious feel. Plus, it looks way better, don’t you think?
If this project shows you anything, we hope it’s that, yes – you can have a beautiful basement bathroom!
Like the main bathroom renovation in the basement guest bathroom, we aimed for a warm, light, and sophisticated look. We accomplished this once again by opening up the shower area and updating the room with all-new tile, a custom vanity, decorative lighting, and plumbing fixtures.
Due to the placement of the window above the sink, we went for a pendant light overhead rather than standard wall sconces beside the mirror.
To tie the style of the two bathrooms together, we brought the same warm wood tones in the vanity and kept the colour palettes the same.
Since our clients expressed that making their guests comfortable is essential, we added open shelving to the left of the vanity so guests can use that spot to set down their belongings and make great use of the space while visiting.
With these newly renovated bathrooms, this couple can enjoy hosting guests and be assured their company will feel right at home. They are thrilled with the results, and we’re so happy to have been able to help them achieve their bathroom goals. Here is what they had to say about working with Staci Edwards Interior Design….
“Staci and her team were able to capture our style and vision perfectly to transform our very outdated bathrooms into wonderful spa-like retreats. We love the calming vibe that she created for us in the spaces. The process for the renovation was accommodating, clear and smooth. Thank you!”
