5 Ways To Treat Yourself This Summer

Lifestyle

Sometimes I like to break up my usual interior design posts and throw some lifestyle stuff into the mix, and today is one of those days! I don’t know if it’s the crazy year of lockdowns or what, but lately, I’ve been feeling a little blah and not like myself. So, in light of that, I’ve been treating myself a bit and thought I’d share in case you’re feeling the same and looking for some ideas and inspiration to switch things up!

Schedule Some Fun

I find that if I don’t take time to think about what I want to do and schedule it into my calendar, it doesn’t get done. That’s right; I schedule fun. Nerdy, right? Well, it works. I know COVID has messed everything up, but I’m still trying. This summer, we have some BBQs planned with family and friends, family beach days, bike rides to new places we’ve never been, strawberry picking and movie nights planned. Nothing crazy, but just having those things in my calendar gives me something to look forward to, which I appreciate now more than ever. So go ahead and give it a try, and get your family involved too, so you can all be excited about what’s coming up.  Looking to treat yourself to a cute bike similar to the one pictured above? New Skincare Products

Over the holidays my sister-in-law gave me her new favourite face oil and I fell in love with it! I had never heard of Youth To The People (HERE) before, so when I ran out of products that I was not in love with, I replaced them with products from them because I loved the oil so much. Let me tell you; my skin has never looked so good! I’m 40, so I’m always looking for things to improve the texture of my skin, and that gives me a nice youthful glow. I use their Kale + Green Tea Spinach Facewash morning and night (which smells fantastic), I use their Kombucha Toner at night with their Superberry Hydrate + Glow Dream Oil afterwards. I plan to use their Superberry Hydrate + Glow Dream Mask in the winter because I usually need something heavier, but the oil is perfect for the summer. A few times a week, I use their Reserfacing Energy Facial, and their Purify + Clear Power Mask and both leave my skin looking dreamy. I recently ordered their Vitamin C Energy Serum and will be using that in the mornings under my SPF. To say I’m obsessed is an understatement because my skin has never looked better, so if you’re looking for a way to treat yourself, I highly recommend picking up goodies from Youth To The People (HERE).

New Lip Pencils and Gloss

Because I was not seeing anyone or doing anything exciting, I was just using my favourite lip balm from Fresh (HERE) most days. It has a hint of colour and is nice and moisturizing but not that exciting when used every day. So, I recently treated myself to new lip pencils and lipgloss because I figure that even if I’m not seeing anyone (and if I do, I have a mask on), I can still add some colour just for me. I got two Nars Satin Lip Pencils in colours Rikugien and Hyde Park (HERE). I love that they last longer than lipstick, but they are a bit drying, so I add a clear lip balm (HERE) on top to moisturize. I also got two Bobbi Brown lip glosses in colours New Romantic and Love Letter (HERE). They are great on their own for a light bit of colour and a lot of shine plus, I also like adding them on top of my new lip pencils to add lots of shine and make the colours look a little more bright and pink. Nothing says fun for summer like some new bright and happy lips, am I right?

New Shampoo & Conditioner

Now, this is life-changing. Have you heard of Function Of Beauty (HERE)? It is seriously the best shampoo and conditioner I have ever used, and it has literally changed my hair for the better. You start by taking a quiz, and they ask you a bunch of questions about what you want for your hair, like if you want your hair to look fuller, feel softer, have more shine, etc. Then they formulate the shampoo and conditioner for you, let you pick the colour and scent, and send you your very own custom shampoo and conditioner. It’s fun and seriously life-changing. I’ve recommended it to a few friends who cannot stop thanking me, so… Your welcome. 😉

Take It Easy

I am all about getting things done, and sometimes I enjoy tackling a to-do list a mile long… But sometimes I don’t. And that’s okay. There is something about summer that makes me want to slow down and enjoy life a little more. I set my alarm a little later, I don’t schedule appointments until a little later in the morning, and I try my best to have nothing booked for Fridays to just work on what I want to (usually while outside). It’s something I have to remind myself to do because it’s not normal for me, but once I transition into summer mode, I’m good to go. I encourage you to try and lighten your load for these next few months and enjoy the season too.
